Rebecca (Becky) Gordon spent the last 25 years in the Office of Advancement at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) working as a front-line fundraiser and in senior leadership positions most recently serving as Associate Vice President of Advancement Administration and Advancement Careers.
As Associate Vice President for Advancement Administration, Becky led the development of the talent management program for the UAB Office of Advancement. This included creating a comprehensive program for recruitment and onboarding, professional and career development opportunities for all advancement team members and the implementation of department-wide engagement strategies.
Prior to serving in this capacity, Becky served as the Associate Vice President for Development managing development professionals across UAB including the School of Medicine and UAB Athletics. During this time, UAB completed two comprehensive campaigns and numerous special initiatives resulting in over $2B in support. As a front-line fundraiser, she played a key role in closing transformational gifts which contributed in moving UAB from averaging $40M a year in fundraising to consistently raising over $100M annually. She was also instrumental in developing and implementing strategic organizational changes as the advancement team more than doubled in size during her tenure.
In both roles at UAB, Becky and her team were important partners in helping numerous Advancement team members grow in their careers and reach their potential through professional development and individual mentorship.
Prior to her work at UAB, Becky spent 10 years in the banking industry in Orlando and St. Louis working in marketing, event management and shareholder relations.
Becky earned a Bachelor of Arts. in Public Relations/Communication and a Master’s in Organizational Communication from Auburn University.
